Hi,

more and more user have eBooks and Audiobooks on their Computers.
There are also software for these files like Calibre or Gnome-Books
and so on. So maybe it would be a good idea to implement two new
default dirs: Books and Audiobooks. Why Audiobooks? I think that most
people don't want their music and audiobooks mixed. Is it possible to
implement these both dirs als default dirs?

Kind regards

I think that Cosimo's suggestion from a couple of months ago solves that
problem, without the need to add more top-level items.

Forgot to sent the e-mails to the list. :(
Hi,
this sounds good but i'm not sure if this helps in all cases. For
example, i have in Rhythmbox the Option "Watch my library for new
files" activated. My library is ~/Music. All my Audiobooks are not in
this folder because i don't want them in my Playlist. I often hear my
Music in Random Mode.
Rhythmbox can know that the music directory is ~/Music, but that audio
books are in ~/Music/Audiobooks. Then, rhythmbox just needs not to
descend into the audio books sub-directory.
When i understand the work of Cosimo right, then there will be the
subdirectory "audiobook" with the .desktop file that describe the
content of the folder $XDG_MUSIC_HOME/audiobooks as audiobooks. But
how will this prevent Rhythmbox from scanning these file also to it's
library?
All the information necessary would be available for Rhythmbox to filter
files from those directories out. It would require changes to Rhythmbox,
but I don't think that's too much to ask.
